Creating Azu'Rahn

It started as a dream. As a teenager, I was prone to daydreaming, escaping my day-to-day life by imagining worlds and places I wished I could visit. I wanted to be anywhere but in the real world. I would close my eyes and practice mindfulness, imagining my 'safe place'. It was a place with thick shrubbery and trees so tall I could barely imagine what lay beyond the canopy. I listened to the soft flow of streams and creeks, imagining my distress and anxiety floating down calm rivers on the tops of soft yellow flowers. In time, this mindfulness escape grew to be more. It was a place I desperately wanted to see. I wanted to be in that world inside my mind. Knowing it was impossible to see it in person, I did the next best thing; I created this world of mine on paper. A few simple sketches grew into entire continent maps. A few maps turned into kingdoms and cities watched over by the Gods. Before I knew it, Azu'Rahn finally had a name, and citizens, and stories to be written. There are not enough hours in the day to write everything I want to within this world I created. There isn't enough daylight to keep my canvases illuminated to paint the scenes in my head. But I try my best. Even now, as I write this, I am working towards my next story. I am painting my next scene, and breathing life into my next protagonist. Please, be patient with this dreamer. I am working as fast as my busy mind can keep up with. Even now, as an adult, the daydreams steal me away. I continue to escape into Azu'Rahn. Only now, I have the skills to share these stories with others. I will share these stories.
